Chicken king chicken king Chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) are poultry from the order Galliformes [1] which are usually kept for their meat, eggs and feathers. Domesticated chickens are direct descendants of one of the jungle fowl subspecies known as the red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus) or bangkiwa chicken (bankiva fowl) which is domesticated and originates from Southeast Asia. Crossbreeding between chicken breeds has produced hundreds of superior lines or pure lines with various functions; the most common are broiler chickens (for slaughtering) and laying hens (for taking their eggs). Common chickens can also be cross-bred with their close relatives, the green jungle fowl, which produces sterile hybrids whose males are known as bekisar chickens.
